Line and Shape Written Submission: Photo for Baseball Dugout
In my picture of the baseball dugout, the location of a baseball field and objects being shown is very important to the photo because they are needed to capture this setting. I was in between the game and I decided to capture this picture for a memory of the day and field, and it displays: the field, the fence, the baseball bags, and bats. The distance in the shot is not far or close up as it is like 10 feet away from the fence. This became straight on as well as the picture isn't above or below the fence and field. This picture demonstrates a horizontal view, as the fence and objects seen are to be viewed left to right and not top to bottom. I do believe my picture uses the rule of thirds because the backpack is being shown slightly in the middle of the picture, as well as the fence and field is being placed into that square of the image, allowing it to obey the rule of thirds. Lastly, I believe it is dynamic because the viewer is able to seek their way through the dugout, to the players on the field, to the bats and bags being shown, and then back out to the grass and beyond that. This image is able to show a lot and gives time and concentration to make a loop or cycle through the viewer's eye. |

For the picture I chose to analyze, I picked the middle bottom picture of Michael to depict because The subject and objects surrounding really became appealing to my eye. I decided to caption this as it seemed the perfect time to take a photo as he was casually relaxing on the stone wall, and the angle I was standing allowed both the raider and the bush that were posterior and anterior to the subject. The distance to the subject is a decent size away, as Michael was about 10 feet from the camera lens. The angle the project was snapped was head on, but also on a profile shot as his body is facing eastwards from where the shot was taken, giving the typical "mug" or profile caption. My picture definately demonstrates the rule of thirds as my subject is seated in the middle of the wide shot as the surrounding images are placed on the outside boxes of the picture. Ultimately, this is very dynamic to the viewer as it allows your eyes to travel from the entire image from the bushes to the right bottom, the smiling face of the subject to the back image of the raider, and along the path that the stone lays flat on the ground's surface. This picture becomes an interesting topic to examine and the idea of what a school ground should look like is being shown here.

Powerlines:
The photo I chose to analyze would be the one that is in the top left of the view looking at the waterside. I really like this photo as you can see the view beyond just the subject and have a feel of satisfaction and peacefulness. The distance to the subject of the lines are relatively close, roughly 15 feet away, but the water seems like an endless distance away and it expands to the end and beyond of the image. The angle is head on and the object is being shown right at the person who was taking it. This picture is very dynamic because the water in the background is able to give contrast to the power lines and the deck itself. In all, this picture is super interesting and a image I'm proud of taking.
